This painting is the second painting in the serie Freedom and Control. It is about a search for freedom and control. Can we control freedom? Is there freedom under control? Does a perfect balance between freedom and control exist?
Juist like the first in this serie this painting is build up with three layers that express the search for freedom and control.
A black mainly rectangular pattern of lines, sometimes provided with a grid is the first layer. This layer symbolizes the so-called "box thinking".
The second layer is a colorful layer of free expression and explosions. It symbolizes the ultimate form of free and natural expression in form and color and crushed every "box thinking".
The third layer is made of rectangular, transparant and fullcolor surfaces and white lines. They are a reflection of what we are doing and seeing around us in the built environment.A built environment that is mainly sleek, geometrical and rectangular in contrast to the organic, natural and free forms in our nature. For example those sleek modern houses that are built in a beautiful, natural scenery. Both attract our attention and reinforce each other in their own beauty. Similarly, a simple straight, white line can draw our attention in a random, colorful and abstract environment.
